Infinity Gate — Weimar

Infinity Gate, shown in Weimar in 2019, is a hybrid format: a mapped façade extended into space through holographic layers of light in fog.

Infinity Gate is 3D mapping with holographic elements — a hybrid format in which the mapped architecture is extended into the space in front of it through holographic layers. The building’s arches, portals and openings become the source: light-forms appear as if they emerge from within the structure and hover in the air among the audience.

Infinity Gate was shown in Weimar in 2019. The fog installations the studio has made since then are ÆTHER.

The holographic layers are made in fog. Light is projected into the fog, so the form stands in the air in front of the building rather than on it. No glasses and no headset are needed to see it, and there is no LED screen. It belongs to the family of holographic lightfields the studio builds with layered fog.

The installation ran at night in Weimar. The audience stood in front of the mapped building, with beams of blue and white light passing through the fog between them and the façade. RE:SORB provided the concept, the 3D mapping of the building, the holographic layers in the fog and the sound.
