Elemental Bodies — San Francisco Church, Antigua
For the Festival de la Luz de Antigua 2026, RE:SORB — invited by the German Embassy in Guatemala — created ‘Elemental Bodies’, a video mapping for the baroque façade of the San Francisco church in La Antigua Guatemala under the festival theme ‘Pieces of the World’.
La Antigua Guatemala, the colonial city at the foot of three volcanoes, holds its Festival de la Luz in July. For the 2026 edition, RE:SORB came at the invitation of the German Embassy in Guatemala and created ‘Elemental Bodies’, an original video mapping for the baroque façade of the Iglesia de San Francisco, under the festival theme ‘Pieces of the World’.
The façade’s columns, niches and saints become the building blocks of a show that assembles and takes the church apart in stone, ice, gold and light.
The San Francisco church belongs to that strand of the work, alongside the palaces, gates, towers, cathedrals and civic squares RE:SORB has turned into moving light elsewhere.
