Sculpture Mapping — Monarch.Ohne

An experimental mapping on a sculpture by the artist Monarch.Ohne at Urban Spree Gallery in Berlin.

A sculpture by the artist Monarch.Ohne at Urban Spree Berlin lit by projection mapping

RE:SORB found this sculpture by the artist Monarch.Ohne at Urban Spree Gallery in Berlin and used it as a canvas for experiments in object mapping — light that follows, dissolves and reshapes the sculpture’s surfaces.

Object mapping works to the shape of the object rather than to a rectangular frame. The content is built against the sculpture's own geometry, so the light belongs to the form instead of sitting over it as a picture.

Urban Spree is a gallery the studio returned to. RE:SORB also mapped a street-art mural at the same gallery, rebuilding the painting in 3D and remixing it with light, and later created a mapping show on an artwork for an exhibition opening there. The sculpture belongs to that run of gallery work, where projection is used as a medium rather than a display.
