Siegessäule, Berlin · 2015
3D projection mapping of the Siegessäule, Berlin’s Victory Column, for one of the city’s light festivals in 2015 — RE:SORB’s first show on the 67-metre column.

The Siegessäule in the middle of the Tiergarten is a 67-metre vertical canvas, visible from every direction. For one of Berlin’s light festivals in 2015, RE:SORB mapped the column all the way around — a show that only really fits a tall frame, which is why it exists in a vertical version as well as widescreen.
RE:SORB returned to the Victory Column ten years later, for the Festival of Lights 2025.
A free-standing column sets a different problem from a façade. There is no front and no back, so a 360° mapping has to hold together from every side at once, with no single elevation left to carry the show on its own. The column is lit in turquoise and blue, the light carried right round the circumference rather than sitting flat on one face.
The column belongs to a longer run of Berlin monument work by RE:SORB that also takes in the Brandenburg Gate and the Konzerthaus at the Gendarmenmarkt.
